Working with Side Biscuit's logo was fun, because it turned out so unique. Chef Jordan comes from Buffalo, NY which is the same city most of my family is from. If there is one thing to know about Buffalo, its that they are VERY passionate about their sports teams. Since Jordan was starting a restaurant in Ann Arbor, near the University of Michigan, he wanted to mix together the UofM, The Buffalo Bills, and his own personal style. His logo reflects all three.

Even before Side Biscuit was open for business as a restaurant, Chef Jordan was having food pop-up events around Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti. I created promo materials and designed the look for many pop up events including instagram posts, posters, flyers, and menus.

Side Biscuit's logo uses custom lettering. After creating the first few marketing materials for the restaurant, I decided a display font using the style of the custom lettering on the logo would be perfect. I created all 26 letters as well as commonly-used special characters in that style and then generated a font file using the glyphs. I also created a 'light' version of the font for when the standard version would be too heavy. Chef Jordan titled the font "Dank Bizcuit".

The Side Biscuit website was created by me using their existing point of sale service, "Square". I created all the graphics, took most of the photos, stitched together the homepage video, and set the website up for online ordering.

The restaurant needed a wing box for takeout orders and I created a design for a cardboard box that would hold anywhere up to 20 wings and a biscuit. Unfortunately, these fell through and never got produced due cost issues, but Side Biscuit is still very interested in getting these made.

Side Biscuit has a lot of fun with their merch line and I was able to manage and work on and with designs created for the restaurant. Many different designers were interested in creating designs for merch and Side Biscuit used a lot of them. It helps give the restaurant a sense of community.
